The Christian Science Monitor Opinion: Did you watch Mad Men this season? Did you see a moral lesson?

The moral lesson is that "moral imperative" changes from decade to decade contrary to what some people believe. Morality is not static; but this is common knowledge...

If they break something, they could be "sentenced" to learning to fix it. One idea, anyway.

The Christian Science Monitor Opinion: How do you feel about dressing kids in Camo? Why?

Source: www.csmonitor.com
Childhood is fleeting enough. Save the camo for later.
Ruth Kasl

Thank you for voicing this disturbing (and ugly if you ask me) trend. I never even dressed my child in a garment with a logo on it. Today, as a young adult, she does not want to be a walking billboard so there are very few logos in her closet.

The Christian Science Monitor Critics are excited about 'Precious.' Are you planning on seeing it this weekend?

Sixteen-year-old Precious – illiterate, overweight, and pregnant again – is a study in quiet courage despite her nightmarish family life.

Oprah is nothing but propaganda for Obama and his change. I would never give validity to her show or anything she endorses.

Our local TV news station's film critic interviewed the actress who plays Precious' teacher. She said the film is like the roller coaster of life...you laugh, you cry, you feel, and at the end, your soul is bigger and you are more empathetic for having seen it. She made a point of saying that the movie is not just a "downer." And there are heroes in it.

The Christian Science Monitor Do you text and drive? Where's the balance between connectivity and safety?

Studies show that even people talking on the cell phone are no more reliable than people who are drunk. TXTing is even worse as your eyes are constanly shifting out of focus on the highway. I've tried it and got pulled over by a OR State Trooper who told me I was driving like a drunk on New Years Eve. He was NOT amused as I almost took his right ... Read Morefront quarter panel. Just what I would have needed. Smashing into a police car. I resist the tempatation and put the cell phone OUT of reach or use a ear bud and call the TXT recipient. With people living sometimes 1-12 timezones apart, often YOUR driving time is someone elses before/after work time. I was called just yesterday while driving to church in Portland, OR by my brother in Miami, intent on talking away. I pulled over and put on an earbud and continued. Driving involves choices and HUNDREDS of people have already been killed or seriously injured by driving + texting. Kill that habit before IT kills YOU!

Personally, I do not. I do, however, have a hands free method of chatting on the cell but truly prefer to wait until I am parked to return call. I haven't even engaged the cell's capability to respond to voice commands...
It is difficult to believe that people would even THINK about texting while driving.

I think the press has been odly silent about the implications of the republican success in this election. hum. or humbug. Surely worth noting that Prez Obama campained for his team and some sort of backlash occured in spite of it.

It's was never even noticed when it was a daily paper!
