Even if it was an official City page, who cares? Can't the people that work for the city have fun interacting with it's residents?

Gia...I care - as do tens of thousands of others. If "you" want to pay for a city employee to surf the net for funny videos - raise the funds to pay for someone to do that on your own. The economic condition of Sacramento and the State is such that we cannot afford to pay city employees for the work they were hired, let along pay them to surf the net for funny videos.

I would break my own wrists if I had to play on the Kings! But on a serious note, his bones were probably weak from the smoggy air and bad water here in Sacramento.

Just a thought, it is inhuman to cut salaries for 18 months during a recession and selfish to only consider service levels being provided, state workers are human beings, doing to same work for the public for 15% less pay, like pubic service or not, we all work for money and our families. The think most people fail to realize when they state at least they have a job is the state has to provide certain services related to the state laws and our constitution so massive layoffs would not work.

City of Sacramento UC Davis receives $69.9 million as part of the $717.5 million awarded to the UC System through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Funding will help UC Davis create another 200 jobs in research projects.

It's unfortunate that California's Master Plan for Education (1960) has been eroded to the point of the UC System being funneled such a high percentage of State Higher Education Funding. Can we imagine what that $70M would do for the far over-stretched Community College System in the State? Not to mention the CSU faculty on it's 3rd Furlough of ... Read Morethis semester. Students and their families should be outraged.

I'm all for research, but the US and California in particular needs to look longer term than 200 research jobs. Even in the overpriced UC System, $70M would educate far more than 200 students. Way to invest in the future UC!
