There are many known benefits of vitamin D and it certainly is a necessary part of the diet. The amount of sunlight needed for the skin to help in vitamin D synthesis is not very great and even with the use of sunscreens daily, individuals will receive enough sun to the skin for proper vitamin D metabolism. All of the benefits of vitamin D have not yet been defined but a little bit of sun exposure while wearing sunscreen combined with a balanced diet will allow for enough vitamin D to be circulating within your body!

From one who has had a melanoma and several a-typical moles removed, I do get about 15 minutes of sun a day and then make sure that if I'm going to be in the sun longer I slather on the 50. I use a daily facial lotion with 20SPF.

I grew up as a teenager in the days of baby oil and iodine! Crazy, crazy sunbaking.

No need to ever "layout" when there are such great self tanning products on the market to have a nice tan.
