Chris Bachmann, a good friend of us, went to Vancouver to work as speaker for the snowboard competitions. He ended up watching the pipe finals with us here in Zürich. Read his statement to see why..
"...after getting for the first time up to cypress mountain we are like, wow, kinda warm today, not 2 much snow. crazy scene, choppers flying over us, droping snow every 8 minutes, many blue dressed workers, well all off us were blue, funny. green olypmics, yes for sure - but only left and right of the pipe and boardercross, other then that they claim it's green.
weather conditions were for sure not on the side of the organizers. they were many days behind schedule. our rehearsals got postponed, cancelled, we got up early to basically wait on lunch, and then wait some more - our lethargy was a bit shaken by some scripted flower-rehearsals, and then wait some more. no internet access in our trailer till the boardercross day, at least we could had done our rider-bios there while waiting, but this was only possible back home at night, anyway...
then preston and me attend the SNOWboardcross team captains meeting. 10 minutes later the team-captains were told to remind their athletes to take off their SKI'S right after the finish area - I look at Preston - "did he just say take off your SKIS? - yep - he did"
we were told, yes - you can talk about the fis-worldranking but you should not mention the TTR worldtour - for me coming from the old ISF-days, hard to believe and nearly impossible to do...
back out, choppers of course in the air constaintly - more blue workers, the ones outside soaking wet, because the clothing we got was far away of being gore-tex. during the 10 lunches up in the new day lodge, sandwich and soup every day. how come the IOC people did not eat with us?
being french announcer I could not use the word "snowbaord" with french accent, it was officially "surf des neiges", for "pipe/halfpipe" the use officially in Canada "demi-lune", also ok to handle...
so corporate everything crazy - to crazy, you can't really have an own opinion, be a free spirit, talk what you want - guess somebody is really worried of the trade mark "olympics", at least that's how it seems...
crazy what happened to KOKUBO, at the end more or less same happened to me: after they changed my job totally what I had to annouce during the mens-boardercross, I thought to myself, what did we just rehearse for the last 12 days and I kinda said out loud what a lot of people were thinking and got pulled out of the trailer. to the producer I confirmed what I just said inside, and told her also my own opinion about the Olympics and snowboarding being here, and that I only do this gig for my resume. but after all I also told her that we both should go back in there and deliver a great job. we both did, I guess, the crowd loved the SBX show, we got many compliments how funny everything was, etc... but what a crowd, my co-annoucer asked the crowd to stand up if they don't understand the SBX rules, 90% got up - the cheap tickets got cancelle one day prior to the event, so only wealthy people sitting in the stands...
to make things short, next morning after the check-in at 6AM, I was broght into some human resource office, taken my accreditation away and without being able to say bye to preston and jay brought to a car, which drove me home and half an hour later to the airport. GOOD 2 be back home in Switzerland now!
I learned: you should not speak out loud at the Olympis what you personally think!
Wish you all a great winter and stick to your roots!

Olympic snowboarding is not true snowboarding. But the athletes are true snowboarders! Stay real, break the rules, thanks Chris!
Yes, we are hiring. And no, we are not too lazy to look out for new riders on the mountains ourselves. It's just that we want to give you the chance being a team rider with some of the best rippers out there. The winner becomes part of the 2010 Clast team and gets a whole lot of stuff.
Sweet, isn't it? But even more important might be that this could be your chance to get noticed in the bulk of young rippers out there and step your feet into the international snowboard world.

How it works
1. upload your snowboard clip on a video community like youtube or vimeo
2. If the clip includes various riders, no problem. Just make sure we notice which one you are.
3. post the clip on the Clast facebook wall
4. share it with your friends. the more votes a clip gets (I like count), the higher are the changes to win
5. get out there and enjoy the first snow
Judging
50% Pro-Judging by Clast Teamriders
50% Public-Judging by your friends (i like count for clips posted on the Clast page)
Deadline for submissions and public voting is November 30th 2009.
