Holiday stress does not have to control your life.

Welcome Sandee Conroy to the Clinton Book Shop. Sandee has over 30-years of experience in the field of helping others to help themselves through alternative applications. Quartz Crystal 'Singing' Bowls came into Sandee's life about nine years ago. Through years of pr...ivate application, she has developed a soothing method of sound meditation for her clientele

Everything vibrates, from the smallest molecule to the universe itself. As long as it is vibrating, it is making some kind of sound -- we may not perceive the sound, it may be above or below the threshold of our hearing. Every atom, molecule, cell, gland, and organ of the human body absorbs and emits sound and has its own natural, healthy frequency. Everyone has a 'vibration signature' which reflects their emotional and physical health; and, just as a musical instrument can go out of tune with use, so can our bodies -- creating 'dis-harmony' or 'dis-ease'. Singing Bowls can 're-tune' us to a state of harmony. Sound can 'break-up', dissolve and remove these blockages -- whether physical or emotional. Just like Ultra Sound is used today to break up kidney stones, clogged arteries -- singing bowls just take that application a step further.

The body tends to heal itself most effectively in a state of deep relaxation. Using sound to evoke 'the relaxation response' is one of the simplest, non-invasive ways to promote harmony within the body. There is a measurable wave pattern equivalent to alpha waves, which instill a sense of deep relaxation.

Tibetan Monks have used metal singing bowls for centuries -- it goes back some 2400 years. We can now make these bowls from quartz crystal -- they have a greater purity of tone as quartz acts as an oscillator and magnifies the tone. The sounds from the bowls are calming and induce a sense of peacefullness. Regular listening to crystal bowls is a powerful, but gentle, way to balance the hemispheres of the brain, tune and re-harmonize molecular structure, and strengthen the mind, body and natural immune defense system. They help radiate out negative energy and stress which restrict our body's ability to function at its fullest potential.

At a minimum, the bowls are very relaxing, and provide a wonderful 'time-out' from a hectic life. Just sit/lay and welcome, absorb the tones into your body. Feel the stress, the 'gook' just vibrate out of you -- just 'drip' off your body.

Or you can 'target' a specific area of physical or emotional concern. Use your focus/intention like a laser -- 'see' the vibrations 'breaking-up' any 'dis-ease' or 'dis-harmony'.

Or, use the energy from the bowls to magnify all the good in your life. Use this time to 'create' your life -- telling the Universe (& feeling) what you want to see manifest in your life.

Workshop fee is $15.00. Participants are encouraged to bring their own meditation mat, blanket or whatever it is you need to help you feel comfortable

Clinton Book Shop Our next big event is Thursday, November 12th. w/Lauren Grodstein. Lauren's new novel, A Friend of the Family is an absolutely hypnotic tale of life, relationships and how the desire to protect those that we love can bring us to our knees. This is a book that croses gender lines and it will be THE book for book-clubs to be reading. I predict that she will hit the best-sellers list with this one.

Welcome author Elise Primavera who will be signing copies of her new Children's holiday book, Auntie Claus, Home For The Holidays. Cool title considering the fact that Elise is a former resident of Hunterdon County. Join us in welcoming her home.

Auntie Claus lives high atop the Bing Cherry Hotel - in Penthouse 25C, o...f course! Her penthouse glitters with Christmas lights all year long and she serves Christmas cookies at teatime - even in July. That’s Auntie Claus…so mysterioso!

Auntie Claus, Santa Claus’s older sister and the brains behind the operation, is also Sophie Kringle’s favorite aunt. Each year Auntie Claus mysteriously disappears just after Halloween and doesn’t return until Valentine’s Day - but not this year! This year Sophie wants nothing more than to be the Sugar Plum Fairy in “The Nutcracker” ballet, and so Auntie Claus is home for the holidays. And Auntie Claus is bringing the North Pole, the workshop, Santa, and all the reindeer to 5th Avenue with her - it’s Sophie Kringle’s best Christmas ever!

This is another in the fabulously popular series that is Auntie Claus.

Welcome author/illustrator Lee Harper to the Clinton Book Shop. Lee's book, Snow! Snow! Snow! us the story of a father and his two sons sledding on the perfect snow day. You may want to dust off that old Flexible Flyer down in the basement because you are going to want to ‘swoosh’ down a snowy hill after reading this ...one!

This is a the book that your child will be pulling out year after year for generations to come. Here is a short bio on this wonderful and talented author, in his own words

Before I had the manual dexterity to draw I liked to entertain people with my Groucho Marx impersonation. Once I was old enough to control how a pencil makes marks on a piece of paper, I diverted my creative energy from Groucho impersonating to drawing.

I always loved to draw. When I was a second grader my best friend's dad used to bring home piles of manila paper from his work and we would spend hours just doodling. We drew crazy cars, monsters, fighting machines, goofy people...that kind of stuff. In the fifth grade I grew more sophisticated and had my first experience illustrating. I illustrated a book report on James Fenimore Cooper's THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS. Although it didn't quite come out as well as N.C. Wyeth's version, I was very proud when my teacher decided that it was of high enough artistic merit to be passed around for the entire class to see! That really inspired me.

Soon my love for doodling grew into a serious ambition to be an artist and after high school I attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. I learned all the basics about drawing and painting while I was there.

After college, life led me down many roads which didn't always involve being an artist. But somehow, my journey led me back to making art.

I am now a proud father of four wonderful children and a full-time author and illustrator of children’s books. WOOLBUR, my first book; written by Leslie Helakoski is being read by children all over the world and is still going strong.

The second book I illustrated, TURKEY TROUBLE, by Wendi Silvano, is off to a great start, having gone into it’s second printing before even being released! I’m looking forward to the upcoming release in October of SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! the first book I both wrote and illustrated. I have just completed the artwork for my fourth picture book; LOOKING FOR THE EASY LIFE by Walter Dean Myers. That one will be out in the Fall of 2010. I am currently in the development stage of two more.
