The Official Colorado Mountain Club

The Official Colorado Mountain Club In 2012, the CMC will be celebrating its centennial. We have recently embarked on a quest of self discovery designed to ensure we will remain strong for another 100 years. We invite you to help lead us down the right path by taking our market research survey. It'll only take you a few minutes to complete, but the help you provide us will echo through our organization for years.

We know there are plenty of other things you could be doing besides filling out a survey, so we've tried to keep things short and sweet. So let's get started.

As part of a broad public awareness campaign, artist Nelson Guda is bringing his latest photography exhibit “ROADLESS” to Golden’s American Mountaineering Center for a special showing and presentation on Friday, September 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit showcases images from some of America’s least known National... Forest treasures—so-called roadless areas—which have been the subject of significant public controversy for more than a decade. The event will also include an opportunity for the public to submit oral or written comments on the latest draft of the proposed Colorado Rule.

Over the past four years, Nelson has traveled tens of thousands of miles, hiking and kayaking into some of the least known National Forest lands in the United States to photograph our country's "Inventoried Roadless Areas"—a vast and diverse set of National Forest lands protected by the Roadless Rule of 2001.

The “ROADLESS” exhibit is the culmination of a four-year project that was recently exhibited in the Russell Senate Building in Washington, D.C., and continues to travel the country to help motivate people to protect these important lands. The free event iis being sponsored by the Colorado Mountain Club. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided.
