A couple of notes on the D-backs signing of Kelly Johnson today and what it could mean going forward:-- D-backs manager A.J. Hinch had lunch with Johnson on Wednesday and is optimistic about Johnson rebounding from a sub-par 2009."He's a nice addition for us," Hinch said...

The D-backs have solidified their bullpen and given their starting rotation a new look this offseason.Their work, however, is not done yet. With about $3 million left in their budget, the D-backs have an offer out to free agent Kelly Johnson and expect to hear in the next couple of days whether the...

A.J. Hinch is wasting little time in turning the calendar to 2010.The D-backs manager will hold a meeting with his coaching staff Jan. 8-10 in Phoenix to go over Spring Training schedules and plans for the upcoming season."It's a way to kick start Spring Training a little bit," Hinch said...

What I'm saying is that we need a whole team not just one player. They need to play as a team and not have any one player treated better the others. The rest of th players contributes even if its a single or a walk. Give credit to all.

Hinch, lets face it as a season ticket holder for years in Sec Q you need some help, Johnson isn't going to help the lineup, your bullpen is hurting! Ojeda is awsome. You need go back with your buddies and find someone in the club who can keep the fans excited. In this economy fans want to see wins not a high school team playing sloppy ball

Hey Susan - can you give me a few examples where AJ Hinch has earned the title of "brainless boob"? Because when I watched the team I saw him out-manage Tony LaRussa twice in the same series in St. Louis and one time against Joe Torre where he even admitted it after the game. And those are just a few examples, so I am curious where are your examples?

The D-backs announced that RHPs Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy will be introduced to the media at a press conference at Chase Field at 1:30 p.m. MST on Tuesday. The pair were acquired in last week's three-team trade at the Winter Meetings. Both are familiar with the area...

If we release Burns we still have to pay him, so that won't work. Also Sheets is asking for 11-12 mil a year, I don't think he will get it, but he is out of our price range unless he comes way down.

Yes lets get some really good players this off season, and lets get a really good manager, a team is only as good as its manager, and I'd hate to suffer through another season like we did last year, without someone to guide them we will.

Some of you may be confused about how 1B Josh Whitesell was non-tendered even though he was not eligible for salary arbitration.Let me re-post something I wrote on this blog a week ago about the "Non-Tender Date".Teams must offer contracts to its unsigned players by 9:59 p.m. (Arizona Time) on Dec...

Seemed like a great kid, but yeah I agree that there really is no spot. He got a shot last year, and really did not help his case much with a .194 average in 46 games. The logjam in left field I'm guessing means CoJack will see the most time at 1B next year with Brandon Allen in the wings.

I get his flaws but he did nothing but produce here in Reno for the Aces. Brandon Allen is too raw and Connor Jackson is injury prone. The Dbacks have had a problem at 1B ever since they let Lyle Overbay walk. These dumb moves will not make the D backs winners.

Jane Boyd, you really need to do some research on casinos first before you post that garbage on here. As someone who lives in Las Vegas and works in a casino not all of them corrupt people. Also, you would probably be interested to know that because of the revenue gambling brings to the state of Nevada those who live here do not have to pay state ... See Moretaxes. All monies generated from gambling goes back into our state to help fund schooling, parks, community centers and a whole lot of other family oriented events that is completely opposite of the image people have in mind when they think about gambling. By the way the reason why most people become addicted to gambling is because they are weak and have no sense of self control over what they do. And despite what many people believe there are more tourists coming to Las Vegas who already have that weakness in their behavior that become addicts than local people.

The D-backs are still searching for a right-handed reliever and after losing out on LaTroy Hawkins, they may turn their attention to Bobby Howry.Howry, 36, was 2-6 with a 3.39 ERA in 63 games for the Giants last year. He is an Arizona resident, who might find staying at home enticing.
