Denver Museum of Nature & Science Get excited! For the first time in almost 20 years, a bright "blue moon" will grace New Year's Eve celebrations worldwide.

news.nationalgeographic.com
Howling at the full "blue moon" this New Year's Eve might be the most appropriate response: The popular definition is rooted in an editorial error, experts say.

Denver Museum of Nature & Science The Leonid meteor shower is tonight! Forecasters are predicting 20 to 30 meteors per hour. This year's shower is featuring something really cool -- Mars happens to be passing
by the Leonid radiant at the time of the shower. That means it will look like the meteors are shooting out of the Red Planet!

November 10, 2009: This year's Leonid meteor shower peaks on Tuesday, Nov. 17th. If forecasters are correct, the shower should produce a mild but pretty sprinkling of meteors over North America followed by a more intense outburst over Asia. ...

Good point. I confess, I've always been too much of a perfectionist! And while I'm fairly certain that Genghis Khan had nothing in common with John Wayne, who's to say what may be true and what isn't over eight centuries later? I'm also fairly certain that Philip of Macedon and King Leonidas of Sparta were quite unlike Val Kilmer and Gerard Butler... See More, respectively, but that did little to stop Hollywood from doing their thing. And come to think of it, I've also heard rumors of Vin Diesel as the title character in a docudrama covering the life and campaigns of Hannibal Barca (shudders!).
