Dakshina/ Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company
Come to a free open rehearsal of Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company on December 16 at 8:00 pm, followed by a drink with our board members. This is an exceptional opportunity to see our dancers up close, and it's the only chance to see what we'll be performing on our South Asian tour later this month! This tou...r will be our first venture outside the U.S. and it features the groundbreaking work "Dreams" by modern dance pioneer Anna Sokolow.
The event will take place at the company's practice studio at the 2nd floor of the Maryland Youth Ballet, 926 Ellsworth Drive, Silver Spring, MD. It is in the Downtown Silver Spring pedestrian area, very close to the Metro. Ample free parking is available in the public garages in the area (the Wayne Avenue garage is closest).
Please RSVP, so we have a head count.
We are proud of everything the company has achieved during these difficult economic times, including receiving a NEA grant to recreate works of Anna Sokolow. We also had to raise $20,000 in matching funds for the tour. We’ve made good progress toward that goal and need to raise $5000 to close that gap in the next few weeks. If you are moved to support us, please bring a contribution--even $10 or $20 would be greatly valued!
