Dan, it was 30 years ago this week the hostage crisis in Iran began, and a memorable autumn for me. After reading "The Camera Never Blinks" I took your advice and got a job in the newsroom of the Milwaukee Sentinel as a clerk, to understand how newspapers work before I got into broadcasting. I met you backstage on Nov.... 4th after you spoke to a filled field house at the University of Osh Kosh, and provided keen insight into what was going on in Tehran. I asked when you thought CBS might go to a 1-hour evening newscast. Your reply was affiliates balked, but look for more news magazines like 60 Minutes. And watch for a 24-hour all news channel, perhaps on cable. Pretty good crystal ball. ABC's "Nightline" would be born that week. I've enjoyed 30 years in Milwaukee Radio & TV.
