Here's something else Dan needs to look into . The Teamsters and Public Citizen have caused the courts and FMCSA to spend thousands of hours debating Hours Of Service Rules . They are at it again hoping the Obma administration will grant their wishes . The HOS rules have been in effect for over 5 years during which hig……hway safety has improved . There is no evidence the current rules have any adverse effect on safety . This is nothing but an ttempt by the Teamsters to do economic damage to nonunion companies that don't pay overtime . Senator Frank Lautenberg is pushing for the review of HOS regulations . You will find him among those listed in the attched link . Safety regulations should not be like eBay items awarded to the highest bidder . http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/recips.p hp?id=D000000066&party=D&chamber=S&type= P&cycle=2008(更多内容)

From Dan: Is Abdullah Abdullah Afghanistan's future? I interviewed him in his heavily guarded Kabul villa. The man who lost to President Karzai in recent election is busy working to expand his political base for the future. He’s building that around

Funny story from Dan, who's in Afghanistan: Afghans among wildest drivers in world. Our van was within inches of killing a boy on bike who whizzed in front of us at insane traffic circle. Jolting stop that scared even our driver. He exclaimed, "Allah" same time as I reflexively said "Jesus." We then smiled at each othe……r simultaneously and each said a silent prayer of thanks that we hadn't killed the lad.(更多内容)

I just finished watching both shows, and I thought they were VERY good. The only issue I have is with your mentions of the "driver shortage". THERE IS NO DRIVER SHORTAGE, and never has been. What there is a shortage of is companies who are willing to pay decent wages for ability and experience.
That said, I really hope…… you are going to continue with this series, because you've only scratched the surface.(更多内容)

Dan I want to say that I have watched the shows on the Truck Driving Industry. I am glad that someone has the go get it drive to show what a small portion of this industry is about. I am different from Ms. Woods, my experience was a very pleasent one. I had a good school with good instructors. I also has the chance to ……work for a good company and when I first started I bad company. Swift (my first company) my trainer was 20+ yrs driving, watched me drive for the first 100-150 miles then said if you need me wake me. JB Hunt (second) I had a very helpful, great, caring trainer, who never left the front as long as the truck was moving. To this day He helped me so much that I still use that knowledge from him. Yes there are badd companies and the are good companies as weel as the schools that train these new gen. of drivers. Looking forward to seeing some more on the industry in the future. Thank you again for shedding some light, good and bad.(更多内容)
