Today I'm posting the first painting of a new series of "Royal Critters". It seems fitting to introduce this series with the ruler of the bunch, "Ape King". His Royal Highness may look a bit familiar to some of you because I had previously painted a similar critter as an art card, "Baboon King".

Hi Jo,It really has no hidden meaning. I was getting tired of painting cute animals and reflected back to the more edgier personalities of my earlier "critters".I do admit I love Halloween with it's costumes and that may be influencing my subconscious.
