I would like to report that a tour guide at Lamanai (not ours) aggravated the howlers with stones and large sticks thrown up into the trees that the howlers began to defecate and urinate on the other group of tourists. I was angry. After they passed us on the trail, our small group sat quietly on a large rock in the middle of the trail. I gently... See More called to the monkeys with a type of howl learned on Animal Planet long ago. These howlers calmed down and actually brought their babies and young ones down closer to us. I could see into the souls of these wonderful animals and gave them great respect. I gave a talk to our group on how to approach the howlers and not harm them.

March 2008. Also, there was a hacked-up Tommy Goff at the side of the trail. Everybody wanted to touch it, but I told them it was still venomous at death. The tour guide never removed it. I was also upset at that. Because if you do not know the facts, then there is a dangerous situation waiting to happen to a tourist.
