Hansen Clarke

Hansen Clarke I'm happy to join as a new fan. As a child, the DIA provided me with the opportunity to graduate from college with a painting degree. I look forward to working with everyone to increase public funding for this great institution.

Detroit Institute of Arts Thanksgiving Thursday--a special 6 p.m. showing @ the DFT!

This production of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte was filmed at the 2009 Salzburg Festival, and was staged with contemporary sets and costumes. Tres chic! The Crystal Gallery Café open for pre-show and intermission (wine & chocolate wine!), possibly the swankiest way to celebrate Thanksgiving known to man.

I have said it before; the DIA is the fourth finest art museum in the US behind only the Met in NY, the MFA in Boston and the Chicago Institute, and this is precisely the art they specialize in. No one does this better. This is a treat.

I'd love to see this exhibit. My grandmother worked for the WPA in the 30's.

Detroit Institute of Arts Neighbors in a Parisian working-class neighborhood find their lives intertwined in this magical, multi-layered tale. A reminder that good movies can grip and enchant us in ways that no other art form possibly can.
This weekend @ the DFT!

In the middle of Detroit, a city always said to be at war with itself, a group of young students play competitive games of chess at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Within the walls of this museum, the city is being reborn.

"The point of cities is multiplicity of choice," Jane Jacobs once wrote. I would add to that sentiment that the desirability of a city is tied to its ability to inspire and entertain.

Victoria Cottrell I remember going to the DIA with my family every few months as a little girl. It is wonderful to see the comparison between now and then.

As a kid I remember a Egypt exhibit we went to I was so young. But when the Salvidor Dali exhibit came I was sooooo excited. But I like certain exhibits at certain times of my life. I guess it depended on my mood.

My favorite gallery is during the revolutionary times. I just don't think we will see painters like that ever again I think it is a lost art. Just my opinion, I guess you can say a preference.
