Full Description
DEWEY is the heartwarming story of Dewey Readmore Books, the beloved library cat of Spencer, Iowa, as told by his owner and companion of nineteen years, Vicki Myron, the librarian who found him on a frigid January morning when he was abandoned as a kitten in the book drop slot. It is also the story of a remarkable small town, ... Read Morewhich burned down at the beginning of the Depression, only to rebuild itself, and which was almost shuttered during the farm crisis of the 1980s, before regrouping and rededicating itself to small town American values. Dewey gets special mention from the O'Reilly Factor while Bill O'Reilly rants about the the amount of attention pet videos get on YouTube.com. At a certain point, O'Reilly rails about how Dewey outsold his book, expressing disbelief that a cat who "did nothing" should surpass him...

Wish I had known about this contest. My Dusty sure could be Dewey's brother. Dusty was pulled from a hollow tree stump almost 13 years ago, bottle-fed and has been our constant buddy since about 2-3 weeks of age.

*grin*, I have a precious boykitty who looks a lot like Dewey, too! He's been in my life for eight years now - I absolutely adore him, and he'll be my Lion Boy forever and ever.
II just finished the book. What a wonderful read and what a precious love to celebrate. Thank you, Vicki, for sharing Dewey with the world. And yes, those heartstrings will endure forever.

My Wotsit looks a lot like Dewey at times. I've had him since 2006 and the rest of his life isn't long enough for me to be his owner I love him so much. He has been through so much with me, and I can never reward him enough. Thank you for sharing Dewey with us all and it just shows that all cats are the boss!
