Joe Leighton： swam with the dolphins was awesome. kids went to explores club and we went to Bordeaux. Jose and the rest of the staff are ROCK STARS. Great food, better service and left very very happy. Thanks to the Bordeaux staff and the great wait staff and chef. The manager come over twice to make sure every thing was great....... We had no wait tonight...heard last night there was a very long wait since it was closed the night before. Not tonight, there was an empty table the entire time we were there.

Me and my husband have to agree with Tracey. We stayed November 5 th- 15th. Although the first 8 days were incredible from the food to the level of service, the last two days just left a bad taste in our mouths! This is when the VIP group or "owner's buddies" as someone else put it arrived in all their glory! Small ......children running up and down the hallway outside our room as well as acceptance of teenage drinking( it is my understanding that the drinking age is 18 in Mexico but this group of kids that were free to do whatever in the night time hours unsupervised could not have been a day over 16!). What we found to be most dissapointing in the Dreams brand was how quickly the caliber of service changed for us once this group arrived!! No longer was the sundial printed in English, but Spanish instead ( they could have at least offered 2 versions of this publication!) Also, we normally would eat lunch at the Barefoot Grill,where it was self-serve, but once the " group" arrived, the chef brought their meals out to them!?! One last example that we encountered on our last night there, was in the lobby bar where we ordered our drinks with Grey Goose and were told by the bartender Carlos ( who had been phenomenol up until then) that they didn't have Grey Goose so we ordered with Absolut instead.... No problem. The problem is that halfway through our drinks we noticed Carlos making a drink for one from the " group" with Grey Goose!!! When we asked him " so you found the Grey Goose" his reply was "it's hard for me to explain but it's like this bottle is for a group for these people". We are not top shelf liquor snobs by any means but since we had no problems getting this premium alcohol at other bars during the week with no resistance we just found this to be the last straw!!
This was our 3rd stay at a Dreams and it is sad to say probably our last. Good luck to those who are traveling soon and some advice to Rod and his staff( that goes along with what other people have said in regards to the kids): respect and treat everyone as equals, paying or not paying, buddies of the owners or not!
And although we are very thankful in that we were fortunate to have a vacation, we could not have been more thankful to leave when we did thus no longer having to see the breakdown of Dreams' integrity in regards to the special treatment of " the group"!

Can someone clarify for me, for certain, if there is an adults-only pool?
Sorry, I know this has been a contentious issue... I have been reading all over the place that the infinity pool is adults only but it has not been enforced, and that was upsetting to me. But I read somewhere else that this is not actually an adu......lts only pool, which is even more upsetting! I'm planning my wedding here for next December. We have kids coming with us and don't mind kids at all as long as they are well-behaved and supervised, but most family resorts have at least one place that's adults only don't they?

There have been a lot of questions about diving and snorkeling around the Towel booth the last couple of days, so let me try to clear some things up. First of all, I am Jerry. My partner in crime is Mauricio and together we run the AQUAWORLD concession by the...... main pool. By the way, this is also where you pick up your clean towels and drop off your dirty ones. For more info about AQUAWORLD please visit www.aquaworld.com.mx we have a marina right at DREAMS with our own boats and kayaks and Hobi-cats. The kayaks and Hobie-cats snorkeling gear for the beach are part of your "unlimited luxury". The owner of the resort enjoys diving and snorkeling and wants you to also. We are not a travel agency like the guys in the lobby. We ARE the marina and the only company allowed to take you out to the reef FROM DREAMS. Aricife Riviera Maya is the second largest barrier reef in the world. And there is no need to leave the resort to experience it. We have our very own part of the reef we snorkel almost every day at 11:30. Weather permitting of course. And that is $44 for adults and $22 for kids (12&under).
BE CAREFUL. There are some guys on the beach from Puerto Morelos with a sign and a boat who are trying to sell you snorkeling and fishing. The beach is federal property so anyone can walk up and try to sell you ANYTHING on the beach. These people are NOT associated with DREAMS RIVIERA CANCUN RESORT. We ALWAYS put safety first when going out to the reef. We put a PADI Instructor in the water to guide you and watch out for your family, do the briefing in ENGLISH... nice gear... so forth and so on... basically you get what you pay for. There have been guests come to the AQUAWORLD booth to complain about the guys on the beach and they just didn't understand that they are not associated with the hotel.
And the last thing I would like to clear up for some people is ... you do not need a SCUBA certification to be able to dive on our beautiful reef. DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING or "DSD" is only $99 and you have a PADI instructor with you the entire time. We go into the pool first then out to the reef for a 1 tank dive. That is for 10 years and up. For 8 and 9 year olds I have the PADI BUBBLEMAKER which is pool only for an hour and we learn about diving and about the ecosystem of the Riviera Mayan reef. That is $33 and they get a 'DIPLOMA' at the end. If you are looking to get your certification while you are here we will make it an amazing experience for you! I am one of the few MASTER SCUBA DIVER TRAINERS (MSDT) in Mexico I teach all the way through divemaster up to SPECIALTIES.

Thanks for the replies. Here are my comments
1) It is clear that the children are not a problem, the parents are. BUT it is not about the kids being supervised or not, the fact is there ARE lots of kids and its very noisy
2) If you want to get away from work and the city and relax this is not the place for you
3) This re......sort is big and loud, management does not understand that you are here to rest and relax. It seems that all they care about and cater to are families with kids. I just tried to take a nap and was woken up to pipes being hammered, kids running around, and housekeeping on floors above cleaning rooms like nobody was below resting
4) Again I understand its thanksgiving, and for families and people who like this atmosphere this is a great place. But for people that are used to staying at smaller places this will be different
5) I hope its not as busy when you all come later, and this info helps others that have similar taste

Frances Thanks to the Dreams staff, we had a great holiday! There are adults and kids, it is not a couples' resort, but it most certainly was better than some others. The only thing dreams needs to figure out is marketing.. couples or family ??? Can't be both, but you won't regret a holiday here! I plan to try an adults only next time though..
Courtney： Really getting bummed out and stressed about the seemingly "families with kids vs. families w/o kids". Cant we all just have fun and still be respectful? I don't want to be screamed at or have water thrown on me, by anyone, any age. my vacation high of leaving in 1 days is dwindling, dang!
Robert Tyczka： Rod, do you know pricing for PADI classes? I understand there is a class for kids 8 & up. Do they do an open water dive? Can we join them? Do they receive certification? I have not heard back from anyone yet
