One thing you learn if you do a lot of container gardening, either indoor or out, is that almost anything can serve as a container in a pinch - and that some unlikely prospects can end up looking quite elegant with a bit of attention. Sure, you can go to the store and buy a flowerpot...

Will my bulbs freeze in containers though? It get really cold here and I am worried that in the pot they will not have enough insulation. Any one know?

To better shield your bulbs from frost you can put some leaves or mulch around the inside edge of the containers

Karen Bogner I live on Long Island, and my mother has limited space for a garden. What bulbs would be good to plant in containers this fall for next spring, and how would you go about it?

Big or small, formal or wild, every garden needs perennials and every gardener has his favorites. For my tastes I adore the never fail summer attraction of Daylilies, 'Cute As Can Be' is the perfect posy to welcome you home after a long and tiresome day at work...
Penny Sutter

Penny Sutter Quick question about your website..I noticed you list lighting and zone but don't list water requirements for the plants.... Are there any that would do well in Cape Cod MA..sand sun, limited h2o

Dear Ms. Sutter almost all bulbs like daffodils and tulips will do well in your area. You will only need to plant the bulbs, water them a little and they can be left alone until they bloom in the spring. There is no need to water during the winter months or in the spring. For summer flowering bulbs and perennials you can search our site for drought tolerant perennials! Happy planting!!

Dear Ms. Morea, Thank you for your recent Iris purchase. Since the Iris is hardy in your zone it is safe for you to plant now and it will bloom for you in May-June.
