ECHDC is a subsidiary of Empire State Development and was created to spearhead the city of Buffalo’s waterfront redevelopment effort. ECHDC’s mission is to revitalize Buffalo’s inner and outer harbor areas and restore economic growth to WNY.

You won’t have to sneak around a fence and climb over a wall and debris to get down to the Buffalo River for much longer. A 1.3-acre park to be developed at Hamburg and South streets stands to become the first major access to the river when completed in 2011.

I was just a kid when the Skyway was being built. I do remember the stories about how it was going to "save the city". Even IF the south Mich. Ave. bridge was but back, I doubt it could handle the traffic.
