EMP|SFM \m/ History: On this day in 1993, Nirvana recorded their MTV Unplugged performance, probably the most successful unplugged concert/album recorded to date. What I want to know is what was your favorite song from that performance?

Bowie rocks, I think I'm going to become a "not fan" of the EMP, all that place is is a nirvana museum. I used to like Nirvana, but now it just kinda annoys me.

EMP|SFM Following up on yesterday I would like to know what film you would LIKE to see a remake of. After a long debate we think Scanners is our choice. Discuss...

The best way to show your feelings is to avoid remakes and support original work. The problem is the average American only looks at what is new and in theaters and not what is original. I'm afraid it's a lost cause.

i usually agree with janet about these kind of things, but there are certain films, especially of the science fiction and horror genres, that i think would be good if remade now because of the advancements in film technology and special effects that we have now that weren't available to filmmakers when the original film was made. there are some ... Read Moreolder things that the less advanced special effects work for, and there are some that i am actually curious to see made again in this day and age. one of these that i'm actually excited about seeing is the new remake of "a nightmare on elm street". from the trailers, it doesn't seem like they changed much from the original, except updated it with new technologies/effects. some of the scenes in the trailer are actually direct copies of the original scenes, which i think is cool, and i think jackie earle haley is perfect to play the new interpretation of freddy krueger. other than that, i agree with geoff about philip k. dick. although i love blade runner, i would like to see a more book-to-film-ish adaptation of "do androids dream of electric sheep?" done in the same film style as "a scanner darkly" was.

EMP|SFM Upon hearing that Short Circuit, the awesome robot/guttenburg movie from the 80s, is scheduled for a remake a coworker declared that he would like the world to stop turning so he could get off. So, should Johnny 5 be "re"-Alive?

Dominic: I said the same thing. The eyes on Wall-E were very similar to Johnny 5. Faith: The good news is that one of the writers on Robot Chicken is on board - which gives me some hope.

And when I say "Johnny 5 had a sequel", I mean "Short Circuit had a sequel". Johnny 5 had a son, which was also WALL•E.

EMP|SFM Gene Simmons stopped by the museum yesterday to check out some artifacts before KISS played at Key Arena. The show was KISS-Tastic, meaning lots of classics and lots of explosions. Anyone else make it?

EMP|SFM Last night we awarded Steve Cropper the Founders Award for his undeniable influence on rock, soul, and just about every genre of music. Steve was an absolute gentleman and then proceeded to rock the house. Will post videos of his performance once the editing is complete.

Census says that most people consider KISS more Glam than Metal. But a good share think they're both. Thanks for all the comments!

EMP|SFM There is a "Pirate Radio" scavenger hunt happening the next two days. Figure out the clue and you'll find free passes to the prescreener on 11/12. Hint: 10 piers south of where The Beatles stopped to fish during their first World Tour/ X proverbially marks this spot for plundered loot.
