Our second entrepreneurship event is just around the corner! MIT Club of SoCal is teaming up with Santa Monica Tech Talks to bring you an engaging & interactive discussion on the topic of funding for startups. The evening's panel will consist of prominent members of the angel and VC communities as well as startups at various stages of funding.

Come discuss the changing dynamic of how startups and investors are engaging each other in every stage of funding and what investors and startups alike are looking for when partnering with one another.

During the discussion, interact with the panel in real-time by text-messaging in your questions and comments. Already have a burning question? BIOS:
Clifton K. Chang '71:
Clifton K. Chang is the managing partner and founder of Altair Investment Company, a company that invests in manufacturing companies, early-stage high growth technology companies and industrial business parks. Altair only invests in companies and properties in which Altair principals can play a significant advisory role in management and make a significant contribution in creating value.

Mr. Chang has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Mr. Chang is an active lead investor and member of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles Chapter of Tech Coast Angels, the largest angel investment network in the United States, which has invested over $100 mm in early stage companies.

Mr. Chang is a frequent guest lecturer at UCLA, USC and Loyola Business Schools. He serves on the board of several Southern California portfolio companies. His community activities have included founder and Chairman of the Asian Business League, Chairman of Carlthorp School, and Director of the Harvard Business School Association of Southern California.

Jason Nazar:
Jason is the Co-Founder and CEO of Docstoc.com, the premier online community to find and share professional documents. Before starting Docstoc, he was a partner in a venture consulting firm in Los Angeles where he worked with dozens of startups. He holds have a BA from UCSB and his JD/MBA from Pepperdine University, where he was the Student Body President of both Universities.

Matthew Graczyk:
Matthew Graczyk is a serial entrepreneur with 20 years experience building businesses both as his own companies and within larger firms. He's had P&L responsibility for six companies with revenues of as much as $14 million, directly managing more than 100 people and C-level management for a 500-person public company with $75 million in revenues.

He sold one of his companies to a public company and was a principal contributor growing two early stage businesses into public companies, turning around a fourth public company and executing a reverse-merger into a fifth public company. He has been involved in raising more than a dozen rounds of capital, including friends and family, angel, strategic, VC, private equity, hedge fund, IPO, and public company reverse merger; in structures including convertible debt, straight equity, conventional bank loans, bank revolving lines of credit and SBA loans at both private and public companies.
