My two children and I were just leaving a gym this am, when low and behold a HUGE one was in the grass. Of COURSE my 5 year old boy had to get a container from the car to keep him. I wonder how long the poor thing will live in captivity.
I hear they are thicker around evergreens and especially Ivy.

Unfortunately I don't think that it will last too long; they are normally dying out around now, just leaving eggs behind for next spring. Especially with decreasing food available to it it might not last very long. But I am sure I would have done the same thing as your son when I was his age....
