Shannon Pryor How many people prefer Rural EMS over City...I love rural cause you have time to use your skills, and dont have that 5 min E.T.A to the hospital...I work in rural Missouri and love it.

Chance My question is why do people feel that Critical Care Transport and interfacility EMS isn't "REAL" EMS - I've encountered more critically ill patients in Nursing Homes and Dialysis centers than I ever have working 911.

When talking about EMS, we must consider the difference between PREHOSPITAL care and POST-DEFINITIVE care. When those people are talking about "real EMS", they're probably talking about prehospital care, with no doctors, no hospitals, etc. We must remember that interfacility care is still a part of emergency care.

I've been working EMS for 21 years now. All 911 service. I have seen more critically ill and injured people than I can really remember in private residences than anywhere else.

One must really remember that the "E" in EMS stand for "Emergency" not transfer.

Emergency Medical Services Thanks Nick: "I would like to pose a question that is, truly, very much a part of all our lives in EMS, but we usually take it for granted - Day or Night Shift? What do you prefer, and why? What kind of Patients do you generally run into during your preferential shift, and why do you prefer treating said Patients?"

Nick Theodore I would like to pose a question that is, truly, very much a part of all our lives in EMS, but we usually take it for granted - Day or Night Shift? What do you prefer, and why? What kind of Patients do you generally run into during your preferential shift, and why do you prefer treating said Patients?

Perhaps the folks ...at this great page could bring up the question to our EMT brethren. I think we would all be very interested in the responses!

Mary Tucker As many as one in three persons are likely to suffer from varicose veins at some time in their lives. Although varicose veins are not a serious problem, they can cause aching and swelling of the legs, as well as being some what embarrassing in appearance. The problem can be treated by injection and surgery. http://bit.ly/ijsGa
