Every November, for nearly two decades, downtown Encinitas has played host to a premier street fair – The Fall Festival. This festival, previously known as the Poinsettia Festival, is a readymade bazaar for holiday shoppers and weekend fun seekers. This year, on Sunday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., fair-goe...rs will enjoy a day where coastal breezes meet people gathering to shop, eat, be entertained and enjoy the community’s Historical district. The festival will feature over 450 vendor booths showcasing various arts, crafts, gifts, food and more. The 200 shops and 40 restaurants and eateries along the Coast Highway from D to J Streets will be open and ready for business. Live music will be playing at two venues; The Lumberyard Courtyard Stage, located at the Lumberyard Center, and the Community Stage, next to F Street; both will feature the best in local entertainment.

The pumpkins have been harvested which means it is time for all of the fair princesses, beauty queens, witches, warlocks, ghouls and mischief makers to come out and safely Trick or Treat on Halloween night. From 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, DEMA will be continuing its night of Safe Trick or Treats c...o-sponsored by Taylor and Taylor Realtors, the 101 Artists Colony, and Detour Salon. South Coast Hwy 101 from The Den to Self-Realization Fellowship Bookstore will be converted into Pumpkin Lane featuring fantastic, carved pumpkins at four different viewing locations.

The pumpkin harvest was unbelievable this year producing pumpkins weighing over 100 pounds. Once again the monks at Self Realization Fellowship are donating the pumpkins, as well as their time and pumpkin carving expertise to bring Pumpkin Lane to life. This year Self-Realization Fellowship presents the Queen’s Court which some might remember from their large Halloween celebration on the SRF grounds in years past. The queen will be granting wishes and handing out candy at the Self Realization Fellowship Book Store at 1150 S Coast Hwy 101.
