I am thankful that horses are a part of my life from childhood to now. When I was a troubled teen, it was in my horse that I found solace and hope to look for a future. He sought my companionship and mirrored my world back to me so that I could see outside myself and to treat others with gentleness I did not recieve.... When he was sold for college, I thought I would leave them behind but horses followed me into my present, each one giving me something valuable to know about them, myself and my world. Indeed, I am thankful for the lense with which to see my world and make sense of it... this equine lense. For horses are not solitary creatures and their boundedness to the herd gives to me a learning how to fit into society, my community, my family. There is so much I would not be without my horses throughout my life, so much love I would not have learned. Now, my children gain a simliar gratitude through their teaching.Read More

Thanksgiving: I would like to thank my horse for the chance to love so deeply, truly and unconditionally. For teaching me that second chances are more than worth it. For the chance to trust, for lending his ever attentive ears to my troubles, for his horsey licks when I'm feeling down
and his soft nickers everytime he h...ears my footsteps. I want to thank
him for always being aware of where I am so he never steps on me or bumps into me and softly nudging me to let me know where he is. I want to thank him for being my best rehabilitation after my last knee surgery, for taking it step by step with me and patiently re-teaching me. He is such an integral part of my life, and I would not be complete without him. Even though I rescued him from the track, we rescued each other ♥ I love him with all my heart ♥Read More

Thanksgiving - If there was one thing I could thank my horse for, it would be his unconditional love. Over 8 years ago, I didn't think I would ever find 'the one' horse for me. My mentor at the time kept suggesting him, but I wanted a Paint.. not a solid horse. Well, he changed my mind after one ride. I was young and s...till timid, and so was he, but he showed me that together, we could trust one another and be a great team. And so 8 years later, and many many ribbons, I can say I've found 'the one'. His love never falters and no matter what life may throw at us, he's always there for me. He's a goofball and he keeps me smiling and laughing. I love you, Red, with all my heart. (Pic is of Red and his favorite, KIDS!)Read More

"Thanksgiving" is a time to be thankful for many things including my wonderful 26 year-old QH "DANTE". Although I have only had him for just over a year, I want to thank him for showing me the knowledge, trust and love that most people don't realize an animal that large can have or give. Sure we're all used to growing ...up with cats and dogs loving us back, but I actually met an older woman from FL this past week that said she had never patted a horse before, because she is afraid of animals much bigger than herself. Her fear was real and overcome that day when I brought my beautiful, gentle boy over to her and she stroked him lightly on the nose and felt his soft and silky, winter-white coat. As nervous as she was at that moment, she still posed for a picture with him and I know Dante and I had also passed on a special gift to her to take home and show all her friends.
I am thankful for such a wonderful, patient and understanding horse who has shown me the true human trust that even animals as large as horses can have. He is truly a gift from heaven and I love him with all my heart! ♥ Read More

Equestrian Collections A RePost from our friends at Mountain Horse.. After being at the NARHA Convention .. I wonder if these horses would make good therapy horses, with some retraining? It would seem that with some thought, these horses could be saved and continue their lives of service. Any ideas?
