Erica Ridley's Profile
  • Erica Ridley
is in Costa Rica and wishes there were some way to believably set one of her Gothic novels here, because it's so beautiful. Maybe the dark, brooding, dangerous man lives all alone in his dark and dangerous... rainforest?
(Sort of a Twilight-meets-Tarzan crossover? ...No??)

      • Patty Colman Ausdenmore Erica, if you write it I don't really care where it's set. I'm going to read it!

      • Kent Meloy don't limit yourself to 'gothic' - what about a mysterious WOMAN who is one with the rainforest on an elemental level, who is trying to thwart a corrupt drug-trafficing politician by infiltrating his trust, but is distracted from her task by a simple plantation worker who turns out to be not at all what he seems?

      • Lacey Kumanchik I think Galen Foley did a pretty good one with a rainforest in it. Not Gothic, but you could add that as your own Erica flair!

      • Maire Creegan I think I read that book. But why not. How about a romantic version of the Wide Sargasso sea. Ya know. . . on that doesn't end up with Mrs. Rochester locked in the attic.

He lives on the edge of the rainforest in his two level Queen Anne's style home on his coffee plantation. His workers never venture near the west gate which borders the forest. He has a man of all work who takes care of his needs. A cook co...mes in but leaves as soon as her work is done. He sits brooding night after night in his book room (insert period appropriate room) reconciling his books as he avoids reconciling his soul for his past transgressions. His only hope for balance in his own life is in the (insert legendary rainforest creature) who's incantations linger in the night air.See More
