Yes, what a wonderful world when Ron Paul thinks there is no separation of church and state and thinks America was founded on Christianity (which sect he does not say), does not respect a woman's right to choose, mourns the loss of US dollars instead of lives lost in war, wants to change the Constitutional amendments and go back to the original ... See Moredraft before the bill of rights (except the 2nd of course), wants us to have an economy and working conditions like Hong Kong (see Journeyman Films 'Cage People'), can't read the Constitution and claims the President needs Congressional approval to receive any gifts from foreign governments, would eradicate the education department (we kinda suck there), the EPA (love that poisoned peanut butter and Mad Cow disease), thinks the FED is illegal despite it being Constitutionally sound, laws are created from the Constitution and it is a litmus test not the law itself, the law is what Congress passed in creating the Fed and it had the authority to do so. If Paul is right, Congress has no right to make any laws not in the original Constitution and thus all amendments would be illegal. "We forget that those powers not explicitly granted to Congress by the Constitution are inherently denied to Congress." ~Ron Paul

FORA.tv Almost three decades since her death, philosopher Ayn Rand continues to be a major influence on American politics. Biographer Jennifer Burns examines the influence of Rand on the modern Republican party, and wonders: Could we be on the brink of a new culture war?

fora.tv
Ayn Rand biographer Jennifer Burns discusses Rand's influence on the libertarian movement's traditional alignment with the Republican Party. Burns also examines the reemergence of Rand's popularity among conservatives and an "unfolding of a new kind of culture war" around economic issues.

Ayn Rand was delusional. So are the Conservatives who follow a fictional book as an economic model. And I can't for the life of me figure out why the god loving Republicans are in love with an atheist hedonist. Being an atheist myself, and understanding evolution and other scientific principles, I can guarantee this statement is absolutely ... See Moresimplistic and totally unscientific as Rand was, even as she tried to pull off knowledge of science: “Man knows that he has to be right. To be wrong in action means danger to his life. To be wrong in person – to be evil – means to be unfit for existence.” As for this: “I swear — by my life and my love of it — that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.” — John Galt, Atlas Shrugged No scientist or scientifically minded person in the world would make such an ignorant claim. If not for standing on the shoulders of others, there would be no scientific discoveries.

Hi, Joan - There are many issues which you've brought up which require clarification, but I would recommend you don't confuse Rand's characters with herself. It's always been my understanding that fictional folks like Galt were never intended to be taken as realistic people to aspire to be. He (and most others in her books) are stylized ideals.

govt is doing a horrible job with the public schools, the VA, Post office, DMV etc, I am no expert on the Swedish economy but socialism is not working so well for the already socialized institutions in the U.S there no reason why any one should want more sectors to be socialized.
