FORA.tv How did prehistoric people endure climate change? Archaeologist Sander van der Leeuw says one way ancient humans survived periods of climate instability was to stay below the environment's carrying capacity.

fora.tv
The only areas that experienced regular famine, explains archaeologist Sander van der Leeuw, were those abundant in natural resources because "people were lured into the idea that they could actually have more and more people."
Brian Robertson

Didn't we already give a Nobel prize to someone who made such bold statements that functioning democracies have never seen a famine, and even more radically before that someone who said that the most important right innately bestowed upon us is that of capital freedom?

I think there may be confusion between correlation and causation. Weak at best, indicative of an academic funding bias at worst.

FORA.tv Lord Christopher Monckton questions the science behind reports listing human activity as the main factor of climate change. What's your take on the climate debate: manmade or naturally occurring?

fora.tv
Climate change skeptic Lord Christopher Monckton presents scientific evidence that refutes the established consensus on global warming. "The warming effect of CO2 is not zero, but it is one-sixth of what the UN's central estimate is," he says.

I don't know anyone who wants to live in pollution. We have made huge strides in cleaning things up, look at the Hudson river, the Great Lakes and many, many more examples. There are larger forests in America than when the American Indians owned it. We are technologically able to put out the forest fires that used to decimate huge tracts of land. ... See MoreIt is my opinion that the climate scare started by Al Gore was a money making event. One that if successful will slow worldwide economies and line the pockets of Gore et al, using fear.

I'm not an admirer of Al Gore, just fyi. While some things have gotten better, others elsewhere have gotten worse. I'm an advocate of a reasonable path forward, a path that will clean the air and make money too. If we continue to polarize each other, I think that's a good recipe to keep things the same.

While I certainly would not like to live under the kind of government of Iran or Venezuela both leaders statements about Global Warming have a ring of truth. We should be ashamed of ourselves for not doing more to reduce greenhouse gases.

FORA.tv Secretary Hillary Clinton challenged China at COP15 on Thursday over the US's $100 billion climate aid pledge to developing countries. "If there isn't a commitment for transparency of some sort, that would be a deal breaker," said Clinton.

fora.tv
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the willingness of the US to help raise $100 billion annually in climate aid for developing countries hinges upon carbon emissions transparency from industrial countries like China.

Why doesn't Secretary Clinton challenge the United States to do way more than it is doing? I swear, if we were as good at lecturing ourselves on what we should/need to be doing as we are on lecturing other countries, the US wouldn't be consuming, STILL, 25% of the world's total resources.

Staurt what you're saying make sense. It doesn't necessarily convert things to dollar signs but the majority of the time it does. I guess my point is that capitalism in its current form does more harm then good. I don't have any answers as to fix the current situation but when ones moneys system becomes more important then human life, things need to be addressed. http://themoneyfix.org

One medium belch by a volcano emits more of those gases than human kind has been responsible for since they have been on earth. We are not a very significant contributor to the earth's processes. The earth will be warming and cooling long after we are gone, just like it has been prior to our arrival.
