Seems like a huge paper trail for a lot of depts to deal with... grants involve a lot of research, hoops, paperwork, and that is ridiculous when everyone is stretched thin to begin with. Read More... these people are paying for an 8 year Congressional failure- with their lives. Highest rate of heart attack is FF's and LEO's. No sleep, huge stress, frequently have to forego pooping or peeing during a busy 24-hour shift- that means no food, too- and less than stellar pay. That's unconscionable. Don't care about FF's and LEO's? Think about what it means for John and Jane Q Public.

The public is stuck with what they get- FF's and LEO's can't split into 3 to respond to multiple calls. They're doing everything they can- and that's a hell of a lot more than Congress has done this past 8 years.

WHY go through fire school and medical training to be worked to death for nothing? Because we CAN, and we DO- we just want fair pay and treatment. Let Congress sell some Armani suits and Lear jets, kids. We're taking care of the country, where our...WATCHDOGS... are not. Forget the hoop-grant smoke and mirrors chase- fund Fire Rescue and Law Enforcement and shut the hell up.

"Grants" is a polite lie. Very few "get" them. It's bullshit. Homeland Security has billions ....and they have done nothing with it even during Katrina. Homeland should be disbanded, and those funds reimbursed to local municipalities.
They don't train well, they absorbed FEMA and have completely screwed THAT up.... unreal.
IF you read the bill that created Homeland- it takes precedence over LOCAL law enforcement, Nat'l Guard, rivers, trains, anything -in an emergency. And they screw up FEMA beyond all belief and all their training scenarios. ????? You really want them in charge?
If you aren't scared, you should be. Homeland security has stolen your security dollars, and your education dollars. It is the best-funded, most useless cash cow devised. Our troops could use a lot of equipment. It's sick. Flipping sick. BEYOND flipping sick. FEMA was in good shape, under Bruce Baughman- but Bush was elected- and appointed 5 heads of Committee and made a Baughman a work-dog. The real brain, who would power 5 idiots to sit and preen. He was told they would over-ride him at will. He declined. Who wouldn't. he didn't want the blood of future problems on his hands...katrina was the proof. Soldiers are suffering in two separate theaters of war, FF's and LEO's are suffering all over this country... so are people who have to wait... in emergencies.... but Homeland security is FAT and Happy! That's bullshit
