The youth programs of the Animal Sciences Dept. of the Un. of Florida coordinates and implements state level 4-H educational and competitive events for Livestock & Horse. We also work closely w/ the Fla FFA on events which serve both organizatitions.

Florida 4-H, Animal Sciences Well it looks like it's been 2 months since I said a discussion of the Area & State Horse show changes was coming soon. And now they are finally ready to share! Check out the new classes and class list here, http://animal.ifas.ufl.edu/youth/horse/showRules.shtml, and we will start talking about them on Monday.

No "Open" Division. All classes are listed under the four main divisions. Classes are also renumbered so all classes in a division are together, as opposed to all the halter, then all the showmanship, then all the mounted classes.

The program is for youth 8-18 and there will be instruction useful to youth at all levels. Florida 4-H, Animal Sciences The University of Florida Department of Animal Sciences is hosting a judging clinic and practice contest for both Livestock and meats judging. The Meat Judging program will be held at the UF Animal Sciences Building in the Meat Processing Center. The Livestock Judging program will be held at the UF Horse Teaching Unit....

The program is targeted to 4-H and FFA youth ages 11-18 (4-H Intermediates & Seniors, FFA Middle & High School), leaders/coaches, teachers/advisors, and Extension Agents. There will be a $15 per person registration fee for both youth and adults. Both clinics will start at 1 pm on Friday, January 8th and again at 8 am on Saturday, January 9th. There will be a dinner for participants in both programs (included in the registration fee) Friday at 6:30pm.

Florida 4-H, Animal Sciences The 2009/2010 State 4-H/FFA Horse Judging School will be on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the University of Florida Horse teaching Unit in Gainesville. The school will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and last until about 3:00 p.m. with an hour break for lunch. The primary objective of the school is to assist in the prepar...ation of judging teams for the State Contests. Anyone interested in horse shows and horse judging should benefit from this opportunity and is encouraged to attend.
