Gaiam Would you take your cell phone on a nature trip? If not, are you bothered by those who do? Very interested to see what you think! :)

I won’t have a computer, an iPod or even a cell phone, blogs Candy Andrews about her nature trips. I want to 'hear' the quiet. What do you think? Can cell phones harm your nature experiences? Or can they enhance them?

Cell phone with me -- turned off -- only used to check for family calls or emergencies. The purpose of a nature trip is to enjoy nature and let others do the same.

Eating locally is a big deal these days -- but few people know about all the edible treats growing wild in cities across America. Here at HuffPost Green, we think the most adventurous way to eat local is to throw on your wellies and go foraging for urban goodies.

Gaiam Once fitting in a workout has become second nature to you, it’s sort of like brushing your teeth. You know you need it, you do it, and you feel better when it’s done. However, you may be in a place where you want to try something new.

Diabetes and insulin resistance are completely preventable and often reversible through aggressive lifestyle changes. Follow these five steps and see a dramatic improvement in your health, your weight and your diabetes.

(I think it's hugely important to call Type 2 Diabetes by it's full name throughout any articles, info.... I think Dr. Hyman did a great job outlining steps everyone can take for a healthier life- but too many people die and are injured by high blood sugars because of the stigma of taking insulin.... Should anyone add to that? Taking insulin ... Read Moredoesn't mean someone is a "bad diabetic" or hasn't been disciplined in their own care. Insulin, I think, should just be viewed as another medication- some people find faster and better control on doses of insulin than oral meds- there are so many variables that "Your Mileage May Vary" most definitely applies...Giving one med a bad name though can keep people from going to their doc out of fear or taking a med because of "the slippery slope" Dr. Hyman mentioned- and that causes more complications and more disastrous situations, adding to the frightening statistics, rather than empowering patients to do their best, to work as a team with their medical professionals, and achieve appropriate glycemic control.)
Also, from what I have read- Type 2 isn't always preventable as there is often a genetic component, but as a person who lives with Type 1 (in tight control, and yes, it is a great deal of work) I think everyone should take steps to be healthier- as Dr. Hyman outlined to lower the odds, sometimes considerably.
Ok, off my soapbox for now... :-)
