An Open Letter to Maria Shriver, Oprah Winfrey, Tina Brown, Arianna Huffington and Mrs. Obama:

The mission of Gals' Guide is to inspire and help women, in their 20s and beyond, with adjusting to life in the Big City. We aim to help, inspire, provide support and a few giggles to our wonderful community of ladies.

From a personal standpoint, I've been looking to you five women for such inspiration in my own life. From your wit, intelligence, sarcasm, opinion, class and candor, you've helped shape what this site aims to be.

I'd like to have you over for dinner.

Yes, that's right. Dinner. I'd like to prepare a meal for you (or perhaps have it catered at one of Chicago's fabulous eateries...hint hint, Art Smith) and as many Gals' Guide readers we can fit. Perhaps it's an intimate group of 10 - maybe 50.

Whatever the format, I know your schedules are incredibly busy. I also know that you and/or your assistants may dismiss this request. That's when I'll suggest that you all Google me.:) Trust me, it'll be worth you time. Besides, Chicago is in the heart of easy fly country...in and out O'hare in a snap.

Need more reasons?

Ms. Shriver: This site is a perfect complement to what the Women's Conference aims to do

Mrs. Winfrey: I've been to your show a few times and we both share unique first names

Ms. Brown: We met at the recent BlogHer conference in Chicago and you called the idea of Gals' Guide 'brilliant'

Ms. Huffington: I've been following your career at the onset of HuffPo and make it a point to DVR Bill Maher when you are his guest

Mrs. Obama: I aim to have this site alive and kicking when your daughters are about to embark on life after college.

So, what do you say, ladies? A dinner in Chicago to talk about the issues that we women need to change - together.

I'll be hear waiting for your response. Fish, chicken or beef?

Image c/o FlickrIn the last few months, I've been reading what fellow GG writers have been posting.

I've been reading your comments, along with reading every email, Facebook wall post and tweet.

There are some amazing, thoughtful women in our little, yet expanding community of Gals' Guide, that it makes me want to tell every person on the street.

Many of you have individual passions that are shared by others. Some of you have brought up ideas/concerns that even I didn't think of (heck, and who am I to know everything...pul-ease).

So, let's do it.  Let's change the world.

I know what you are thinking: Huh?

Yesterday, we asked the following question to fellow GG Twitteri:

What is your must-have item of clothing?

"probably underwear. especially given that I have about 80 pair and I keep wanting more!! :)"

"a really fabulous custom belt buckle my sister gave me at Xmas last year - it always makes me think of her!"

"hands down, love my patagonia yoga pants:)"

"My black silk romper. Bought it last summer and it's earned its keep many times over. Accessories: Orange rose earrings + a hat."

"My black hoodie aka my security blanket :)"

" I love rolled up jeans! perfect for biking everywhere."

" love my "everyday" dresses!"

How about YOU, what is your favorite item of clothing that you just must have? Tell us in the comments!
