Athletics:	15 varsity sports competing in NCAA Division I – Southern Conference. Football team competes at the FCS level and has won six national championships, more than any other FCS team.
Campus Community:	Georgia Southern is home to a more than 700-acre park-like campus.
Mascot:	Eagles. GUS is the official mascot and Freedom is one of four live bald eagles that live on campus.
Value:	Kiplinger’s named Georgia Southern to its “Top 100 Best Values in Public Colleges” list in the fall of 2008.

College of Information Technology - the only one in the southeastern United States. Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health was the first such facility in the University System of Georgia. The College of Business Administration houses the only School of Economic Development in the southeastern United States. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program is one of only three such programs nationally to be accredited by the Computing Accreditation Board of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. US News and World Report consistently ranks the University’s Family Nurse Practitioner Program among the best in the nation. The program is currently the top-ranked program in the state of Georgia.
