Get Well Kujo Wed - Chris is doing well. He has had several visitors over the last few days which he has enjoyed. Eating a bit, some days better than others! Still doing well with physical therapy. Just biding his time until the surgery in January while continuing the physical therapy on his arms (working on range of motion, grasping items, etc.)
Get Well Kujo Sun Chris spent Xmas with Mike, Shirley, Marc and Nick. It was nice to spend a few days with him. He is making good progress and is enjoying driving his wheelchair (even tried to go through the grass in the garden next to the hospital to see well the chair would handle "off-road". Surgery scheduled for 2nd week in Jan.... They will operate on both bedsores and the same time, so only one 6 wk recovery period not two!
Get Well Kujo Chris drove his wheel chair outside for some fresh air Christmas Eve in San Diego.
Get Well Kujo Thursday - Great News!! Yesterday Chris drove his wheelchair! He was able to use the joystick with his right hand. Pictures to follow!!
Get Well Kujo Tues - Off to see Chris tomorrow. Spending Xmas with him. He is feeling pretty good, has his appetite so is eating more. Still some itching from his reaction to the antibotic he was taking. Will post Xmas pictures soon! Thank-you to everyone for the cards. He looks forward to his cards and letters!!
Get Well Kujo Tues PM - Two San Diego Chargers, # 53 Holt & #92 Martin came by with an executive from the PVA (Paralized Veterans of America). They were visiting patients here at the SCI., here at the San Diego VA. They signed a quilt for him and took pictures. Thanks to the Chargers, Chris enjoyed the visit. And thank-you for supporting out troops!.
Get Well Kujo Tues-More movement! Chris is using his right hand a bit more, able to grasp a stress ball in his right hand (not bad for a lefty) and through it at his dad. (but dad couldn't catch it :). He is able to grasp his gummy worms with some effort and turn his wrist, more mobility than last week. Good appitite. Still waiting... on surgury schedule, hopefully at the end of the month.
Get Well Kujo Wed- We are estatic! Last night Chris fed himself a couple of gummy worms (gummybears were too small) and a few yogurt cover pretzels. He is able to scratch his face a bit. Surgury on his bedsores delayed to week between Xmas & New Years (tentatively) due to steriods he is on due to the reaction to the antibiotic. Making Progress!
Get Well Kujo Wed - Good news!! Today Chris was able to pick up a bottle cap from pillow and put it on his chest (right hand with a bit of thumb movement) and picked it back up and attempted to throw it at his dad. He also was able to use his right hand to scratch his head a bit for the first time! Still dealing with allergic reaction, taking steriods & benadryl.
Get Well Kujo Tuesday - Mike is visiting with Chris today through tomorrow. Unfortunately Chris has had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic he is on, leaving him with an itchy rash and some swelling, puffy eyes and swelling on his tongue. Hopefully this will go away soon. Otherwise he is doing fine. Still waiting for surgery da...te. He enjoyed his weekend company! And is gaining some weight!
