or over-complicate things...sometime all they are looking for is a simple answer "condoms are for sex" was all my DD wanted to know, she moved onto another subject after I gave her that answer

Heather Dewey Pettet Maybe I'll need some tips for getting my son on board for these Missions... And for keeping me sane when I need to keep asking for his help over and over...

Heather Dewey Pettet I just joined the Giving Your Children Wings page. Both Riley's and Kelly's Missions are what I think are needed for my son and myself for the After-School Routine (after a little relaxation/snack time), but I think I will try them out in the morning during Thanksgiving Week since he will be out of school! Also, he is ..."on the spectrum," as it were, very high functioning, with sensory issues; he's in Kindergarten and is starting to figure out how to read. He just needs a lot of redirection. And support. (Sigh!) Well, so do I! I actually have ADHD, myself! I'm going to be so tired after this week... :)

You two will do great. as an early childhood educator (definitely not an expert on Ausperger's or autism) I know that these routines should prove to be great for your son and hence your sanity lol

Well, I haven't done them yet this week, but my husband's not home from work yet... I also try to work from home, attend support group and writers' meetings, cook when I can and do research on ASD and ADHD. Whew! Having some sanity sounds great! :)

I like practicing unconditional love with loved adults in our family, too. It's a great experience!

This was a bit hard today... my son was not focused so I had to help him a bit. Got it done though... a few items he wanted in storage... which was fine since they were a bit expensive to be giving away.

Everyone likes people to take an interest in them. Everyone wants to be loved. But for a child,a genuine gesture of loving concern is absolutely necessary for them to develop into healthy adults. There can never be too much of God's nurturing love poured into a child. The sad thing is, there is often not enough at all.

Heather, I understand where you are coming from. When they are driving me the craziest I try to just hug them, tickle them, do something silly and laugh with them. I notice when we start laughing together that it gets rid of the grumpies. :-)
