David Hartwick So in your show tonight, Dr. Armstrong made it clear how important it is for diabetics and asthmatics to get vaccinated as they are HIGH RISK FOR SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS and advises they should really consider getting vaccinated. So why is Global not going after the Alberta government or AHS to ask why these high risk groups are not getting their shots?

I totally agree with you, my daughter falls in that group and she has a barky cough right now from her asthma acting up. Our doctor put her on that tamiflu because her school has had h1n1 in it to try to prevent her from catching it. He also pulled her from school as a safety precaution this week. She cann't afford to miss too much school due to the fact she's in grade 12 and to get your diploma you need to be in school.

I am no doctor, but my son is taking vitamin D3, vitamin C and Acidophilus daily as they build the immune system and so far, so good. I am not sure I want him to get the shot, but still absolutely unacceptable that asthmatics are not getting the vaccine if they want it.

I might add, that if front line employees that deal with a high number of people were vaccinated it would limit the ability for the flu to spread: teachers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, flight attendents, restaurant workers to name a few.

Fail to plan and plan to fail seems to be the motto for this vaccination program. D...on't blames the Flames, blame the system. They simply asked as did many other groups and employers. It is not their fault that someone said yes to them.Read More

I would like to understand how the priorities were decided. If I understand the information I could find through the media, there has not been a single h1n1 fatality in Canada for a child under 5, pregnant woman or a fetus and yet these were the priorities. However, there have been several fatalities where the victims ...had asthma. What about families of those with terminal illnesses? I thought the average age this flu is seriously impacting was young adults but they are not a priority.

I also wonder why critical service workers were not vaccinated such police officers, firemen, emt's, military, and air traffic controllers did not receive the vaccine. If we were to lose even a small percent of any of these workers, it could have an immediate impact on public safety.Read More

I completly agree David! 4 people died this week in Alberta 3 with cronic health conditions!!! And yes no one in the "high risk" group has died as of yet so why are they high risk??? And even a better question what can we do about this ? I wrote the health minister but what other avenues can I take?

So today they offer the H1N1 for children 6 mo to 5 yrs, Saturday is for pregnat women, I have a family of 5. # of us are high risk, 1 extreme high risk as she has a immune defficancy and can not fight infections. You have to go to the clinic on your specific day! So I have to wait in line 5 times!!! This is retarded, ...not to mention as of rigth now only 1 of my family members fit in to the group, and there is no info on when my daughter with the immune deficency will be able to get her shot. This health care system is messed up!!!! Those who need it the most like my daughter can not get the shot, but if she gets the virus, it could kill her because of her medical history! I am so frustrated and do not know where to turn!Read More

okay enough already, i agree that the flames shouldnt of gotten the vaccine before ems, fire etc, but if the flames filled out the proper paperwork, why are they getting into trouble.....even the employee that works for crha that got fired shouldnt have, he followed the proper procedure that the Alberta Health put into... place...the employee is only one person, but the crha is the one that put that procedure into place...so you tell me should that person been fired and should the flames be getting the negative comments that they have been getting...lets think about that.......Read More

I don't think it's fair that if you have money, you can buy yourself, your boss, your coworkers safety while the rest of us that don't work for organizations that don't have money have to wait in line like everyone else. That isn't supposed to be how our public system works.

muy question is : on the 11oclock news this wed nov 4, said that tomorrow children under 5 will be able to get their shots BUT need proof......now i do not have a birth certificate for my daughter, i have never needed one, i only have her alberta health care card....IS THAT GOOD ENUF TO GET HER IMMUNIZED???? i am also ...7 months pregnant, on ei medical leave, and waiting for the unadjuvanated shot to come out but if i need to get my daughter a birth certificate wont that take some time and money.....?? plz helpRead More
