Green Bay Diocese What's your reaction to the Holy Father establishing a way for Anglicans to unite with Rome?

We've had married priests for quite some while, especiall in areas with a low percentage of Catholics. What makes you thinkthis will change the celibacy rules. Here's my question: man wants to marry. Catholic church says "no/" he leaves, marries and becomes an Anglican priest. Can he come back as a married Catholic priest?

Tom, I would think that there needs to be enough time between these steps for both churches to discern this man's motive. Legally, it's probably permissible, but the RCC might see through it and deny the request to return because they might see it as subversive. Not that it's not a good idea, but the church might just want to hold to higher ideals than going along with deceptive practices just to have another priest in the ranks.

I think Bishop Ricken is a wonderful shepherd who is holy, committed and faithful. He makes key, important statements about the need to respect and defend life and I thank him for it.

That said, I think the fundamental flaw in this debate is the focus on health insurance, instead of medical care. Further, I do not think the Federal government is... Read More capable of doing either effectively in any of the current debated forms/bills. Nor do I trust them to do so.

Common sense tort reform; removing preexisting condition restrictions; removing state-border limits on plans and allowing private groups/associations to buy group plans to reduce risk and cost are all good places to begin, but are readily overlooked in most cases.
