Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams invites the public to attend four informal “Coffee With the Chief” events on Wednesday mornings in September and October. Williams will be available to meet and talk to the public at locally owned coffee shops in each of the four City Council zones.
There are no set agendas or pred...etermined topics. Each session begins at 7 a.m. and will last until at least 8 a.m., or until the discussion is through. The schedule is as follows:
* Sept. 1 — Big Momma’s, 217 E. Commercial St. (Zone 1)
* Sept. 15 — Anton’s, 937 S. Glenstone Ave. (Zone 2)
* Sept. 29 — Gailey’s, 220 W. Walnut St. (Zone 3)
* Oct. 6 — Dancing Mule Coffee Co., 1945 S. Glenstone Ave. (Zone 4)

The blaze broke out about 1:30 at a home on north Farm Road 177. No one got hurt.

Ten local families were left without homes Monday after fire tore through an apartment building at the Strawberry Fields West apartment complex, near the intersection of Kansas Expressway and Sunshine Street.
