Maja Ozbolt

Maja Ozbolt Hi!
How long is the early summer offer valid? I would like to buy the pass now but I start my Australian adventure in January. Would my purchase of an early pass be valid?

Hi Maja,

If you buy a pass through the Summer Pass Sale, it will be valid for you to start travelling in January. The time given on the pass pages for the pass is it's validity from the first day of travel.

Enjoy the trip!

Ali Neilson

Ali Neilson hi, I was thinking about buying the 20,000 km pass and was wondering. What happens if say i book a bus from brisbane to sydney and decide half way through the trip i want to stop off in between them both, will i lose my km?

Hi Ali,

When you book a new sector while travelling on a Kilometre pass, the Kilometres are spent at that point. While you can get off during the trip between Brisbane and Sydney, for example, the Kilometres you used to book the entire trip have already been spent. Alternatively, you can always book your trip in sections like Sydney to Byron Bay and Byron Bay to Brisbane if you want to break up your journey, and not lose any Kilometres at all!

Sharon Feeney

Sharon Feeney hi, i am travelling from Cairns to Sydney at the beginning of December and I am wondering how far in advance do the tickets need to be booked for two? thanks

Hi Sharon,

Tickets only need to be booked over 24 hours before the time of travel, however booking earlier meanes you are far more likely to be able to grab a discounted ticket. You can also get a Mini Traveller (http://www.greyhound.com.au/australia-bus-pass/oz-choice-bus-passes/mini-traveller-passes.aspx#cairns) for the trip. You can take longer, hop on and off along the way & check out each town you go through over a 45 day period.

Enjoy the trip!

We do not have any specific guidelines regarding the kinds of backpacks you can have as carry on. Only two items of stowed luggage is allowed, and they can not exceed 20kg or 2 metres in any dimension. You can find more information here: http://www.greyhound.com.au/Footer/terms-and-conditions.aspx

Hi Mark,

With an All Australian pass, the trip between Adelaide and Perth is included. The route itself is flexible and you book it as you move around Australia keep in mind that you need to travel in one direction. Hi Robert,

We are not currently running any cadetship/traineeship programs in NSW at this time, but if you have a HR Licence and Drivers accreditation it is worth keeping an eye on the jobs page on our site for any new positions. http://www.greyhound.com.au/AboutGreyhound/jobs-at-greyhound.aspx

Andy Tsui

Andy Tsui Hi there. I am from the UK and was wondering how you get the backpackers bus rate ($20 cheaper than normal adult rate) as I am travelling from Cairns to Airlie Beach to do a boat trip? I presume I would be classed as one of them. Many thanks

Hi Andy

There are a number of ways that you can qualify for a Backpackers rate. Holding one of the following cards is both the most common and the easiest: YHA, VIP, and ISIC, for a full list you can have a look on our website https://www.greyhound.com.au/AboutGreyhound/Backpacking-with-Greyhound.aspx

Arnouk Ko

Arnouk Ko Hi! I'm planning on travelling from Melbourne to Cairns, would I need a 4000 or 5000 km pass? I'd also like to buy the VIP card when I'm in Oz, but how/where can I redeem the 500 extra kms? Thanks!

Hi Arnouk

If you are going to buy as a concession card holder, a 4000 km pass will cover the trip. When you buy a concession Kilometre Pass, you get the extra Kilometres added to your pass, and you can spend them as normal. You can buy the VIP card from our Melbourne Terminal (please insert location details as per web) and they can book the pass and redeem the 500 extra kms for you too. Or click the link here to purchase online.

Kemi

Kemi Hey! In January I need to travel along the coast from Sydney to Hervey Bay to Brisbane, what do you think is the best and cheapest pass? I also have a ISIC Card...but in Feb I plan to travel south of Perth and back and then in May do Alice Springs-Darwin and Cairns areas, so not sure if best to pre buy a mass KM pass now?! Thanks

Hi Kemi,

It does sound like a Kilometre pass might suit your plans better than a pass or express tickets. While we have passes that can cover Sydney to Brisbane, Alice Springs to Darwin and Cairns.

If you got a Kilometre pass, it would be valid for up to 12 months, and you won't need to book a pre-planed route. You can back track and exchange Kilometres for tours too like 3 day Southwest Tour south of Perth, (http://www.greyhound.com.au/Bookings/travel-offers/Southwest-3-Day-Tour.aspx).... Read More

If you wanted to, you could send through your trip details to info(at)greyhound.com.au and we can help you find the most cost effective way to see Australia.

enjoy the trip
