Hawkeye Community College How to Visit the Zoo: Tips for making it a better experience than what you've probably come to expect. Surprising tip: "Go cold. Winter is often best: the crowds are thinner and the animals are more active."

www.curatormagazine.com
I love the zoo. But here’s the thing: you don’t. Or at least, it seems like you don’t, the way you frogmarch yourself through the zoo, trudging crying children and panda-shaped souvenir soft drinks. The ...

Hawkeye Community College Easy trick for creating secure passwords: create a sentence, then use the initial letters to make a password. E.g. hccMtyci1966 (Hawkeye Community College: More Than You Can Imagine 1966). Or, hmttltysamf4r (Hey, Mom, that's the last time you snoop around my facebook, for real).

According to the research firm Experian Simmons, online holiday shopping has started earlier than ever this year. Like most people, you likely use the same password for all of your favorite shopping sites. Back in July, Farhad Manjoo explained why that's a

Hawkeye Community College 58 colleges now charge more than $50k per year! Most of the article is behind a paywall, but the headline alone makes a good conversation starter, no? Even taking grants, etc. into account, that's a breathtaking amount of money.

chronicle.com
Fifty-eight private colleges now charge at least that much for tuition, fees, room, and board, a Chronicle analysis of College Board data shows. Last year only five colleges did.

Hawkeye Community College "Using a cell phone while walking is so distracting that people are likely to miss a clown riding a unicycle." Seriously! They did a study and everything. (But it was on a college campus, where clowns on unicycles are practically normal, so maybe the research was flawed ;-)

Hawkeye Community College Did you know that there are several benefits to smiling? Smiling can boost your immune system, can help change your mood (You know the saying, "Turn that frown upside down."), and can help relieve stress. So during a long day of class or work, put a smile on your face and reap the benefits :)

Hawkeye Community College There are two kinds of students: those who talk to their teachers and those who don't. Okay, that's an oversimplification ;-). Seriously, though--ask for help or just make small-talk about the weekend. 99% of all professors like to talk with students.

BONUS TIP: Learn their names right away. They're human, so they like the sound of their own name.
