and several other trainers have shipped horses across town to work on
Hollywood Park’s synthetic surface. Baffert’s workers have included
Pacific Classic champion Richard’s Kid,... Swaps winner Misremembered and
Acorn winner Gabby’s Golden Gal.

How come Hollywood Parks cushion track is allways good in any weather, and Santa Anita spend three times as much and still can't get it right ? Why didn't Santa Anita use the same kind of surface as Hollywood ?

I believe it is an issue with the topography of Santa Anita especially the area where the downhill turf course crosses the main track which is unique to SA.
