Brenda McGarvey

Brenda McGarvey I just got turned on to Howard Thurman through this great quote....what a great reminder this season: "When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and princes are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, To heal the... broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the nations, To bring peace among others, To make music in the heart." --Howard Thurman

James Fripp

James Fripp Howard Thurman gave this sermon at Marsh Chapel at Boston University. It is entitled "A quest for identity." For those young in faith, and in search of faith, and losing your faith hear his poetic and prophetic words. "
It is a strange freedom to go nameless up and down the streets of other minds, where no salutation gr...eets, and no sign is given to mark the place one calls one's own. To be made anonymous and to give to it the consent of the heart, is to live without life and for such a one even death is no dying. To be known, to be called by ones name is to find one's place and hold it against all the hounds of hell. This is to know one's value for oneself alone. It is to honor and act as one very own, it is to live a life as one very own, It is to worship a God who is one's very own. "

Kai Jackson Issa

Kai Jackson Issa Hi fellow Thurmanites! If you haven't already, please sign our online petition to save the historic Spleman Nursery School. Howard Thurman's daughter attended there in the 1930's, as did MLK's sister and so many folks from all over the city of Atlanta. Add your voice to the movement to keep this center open! http://www....petitiononline.com/savemwec/petition.html

Kai Jackson Issa Hi fellow Thurmanites. Please take a moment to save the historic Spelman College Nursery School. Thurman's daughter went there in the 1930's, as did Dr. King's sister and thousands of others. It's slated to close in June. We can't let this happen.
