The Shenyang Power Group announced last week that it will build its wind-turbine plant in Texas. The project, originally estimated to create only 30 jobs in the U.S, but 2,000 in China, is now expected to employ approximately 1,000 American workers.

No one needs to tell America’s families that unemployment and underemployment are at crisis levels. We need jobs—and we need them now.

Good for the AFL-CIO, but what kind of pull do they have? In Oregon, our governor is clueless, totally clueless.. Who knows where he will send that money. His first attempt to use the money only buffered jobs that were already in place..and roadworkers... This is not the age of FDR. We have a road infrastructure. I like the above post of the ... See Moresmart grid..where in the world is that? The priorities of those spending this stimulus money are just not in order. I am tiring of those responsible for spending this money..my kids get no Christmas this year...and I am not a happy camper about that..

I have to agree with Scott, why give employers an out? The government can't manage the programs they already have, why give em another thing to screw up. My opinion, that 750 billion dollars they called a stimulus was a complete waste of money. You want to get things right, take that 750 and dump it into social security, keep the illegals locked ... See Moreout of it. Those who are at the point where they can retire would be able to do so, the next generation steps up to fill the empty jobs, they in turn spend their paychecks to make thier lives comfortable, the economy springs back and we can move forward. I can't see why this is so difficult for the politicians to understand, why do they have to complicate things so badly? How about this for an idea, we toss the politicians out and put a common man back in office?

I think it was a good response. The WSJ has been taking pot-shots at unions and union-leadership (usually for imaginary wrongs) for many years. Ed Hill wrote a measured and reasoned response. Unfortunately, the editorial board at the WSJ already knows most of this, but refuses to recognize the facts.

Anti labor sentiment by corporate owned governments is not good for the labor movement. Does it matter what government that is? 60 seconds to fill out a form... seems easy. Maybe it isn't so important that anyone reads it, but that we take the time to write it. International pressure on wages results in lower standards of living domestically no matter how you do the math.

Ok- I hear all of this "let them take care of themsleves" rhetoric. First of all, did all of us get up and stand up for our rights for EFCA? Or healthcare reform. Or anything that has a major impact on "us Americans"? I am sure not. Considering I have walked these streets and knocked on doors and called people and gone out to vote and have traveled... See More to my state's General Assembly lobbying and even went to Washington to lobby...I didn't see many others doing that. I am so sick and tired of hearing this let's take care of us from people that are not active in US!! Do you know how the IBEW started? Or even how and why unions started? It was to look out for the little guy and to get together to be a better place to live. I don't believe that there are any borders between our countries that we didn't put there. What is 60 seconds of your time? Get real people! Stop bitching and start helping. Regardless of whether you know it or not, if they do better, we will do better. I guess you feel the same way about our Canadian brothers and sisters huh? They are across a border. Nuff said for now....so just fill the form out and be thankful that we can help.

I'm not about to send a letter to a Mexican authority figure. Do you really believe they would 1) Read it, and 2) care less? And forget the "brotherhood" of workers supporting workers. Support American workers. We have our own labor problems and should concentrate on them, forget about the problems of others for a change... Clinton and his Democrats at the time sold out labor for the Mexican-American vote at the polls. Repeal NAFTA now. Save AMERICAN jobs for AMERICANS.
