ING DIRECT Here’s one type of saving we don’t advocate: shoplifting. Check out 2009’s most shoplifted items:

These items flew off the shelves this year, often thanks to shoplifters.

of course baby formula was on there...crackheads steal it, and take it to a smaller store to sell it for profit, then use the money to buy crack. every retail worker knows this.

Another interesting part of this report that was also released: Dishonest employees cost companies more per incidence than consumer shoplifters do. $1,300 lost per dishonest employee. $128 lost per shoplifter.

I think many parents go overboard when buying toys for their children today. I had a really great childhood with wonderfully selfless parents and I received one primary gift and a few cheaper gifts (usually clothing) for Christmas. The big gifts over the years were a special doll (I had a Tumblelina, a Chatty Cathy, a Baby FirstStep, Barbie, Ken... Read More, Skipper, an Etch-a-sketch, a bike, a cassette player (I'm 53), a manual typewriter, etc. Just to give you an idea. If I try I can think of others. But the point I'm trying to make is that today gifts aren't special because many children get nice toys every month or so, instead of a couple of times a year (birthday and Christmas). Parents are cheating their children out of a simpler but more memorable life. Take them on picnics, go for walks, go to the Park or Zoo, play ball with them, prepare snacks together, go to the Library, but buy them less...

When we were young one gift was what we wanted, it was the thing we told our friends we wanted and received... Today i see children and adults with their lists and I see them get depressed when they don't get everything on that list... Who to blame? Parents? Marketing? TV? Internet? or just plain greed? "Tis the season to be greedy"

Liz Rodriguez ING is the most difficult bank to hack in the industry and that is the
main reason I put my
money there. Plus they don't charge fees and they
make it easy to do business with them which is why I opened a
ShareBuilder Account.

That's great that you have 100% free preventative health care for your employees. Your Doctor and N.P @ HQ. probably cost you $300k/year, in other words 100% free care for only $20/month per person. Maybe for your next marketing campaign you could teach our government how to save a little. Your in-house health clinics, and gym would make a great ... Read Morecase study for the nation and ... Read Morefantastic PR for ING (you could use it right now). Who knows, maybe it would get walmart to follow your lead on healthcare ;-) Surely they could see the PR value in spending $20/month. In 2006, your fully staffed 10k sq ft gym @ HQ sees 150 users per day (out of 540 employees). That's great! "The availability of on-site treatment for routine, as well as urgent issues, resulted in a direct and immediate savings of more than 1,300 working hours in 2006 alone".

Such a great idea. Why invest in an outfit that will cost your hundreds and that you will end up only wearing twice?

I'm guessing they are not commenting because they themselves don't know what's gonna happen. ING Direct is a wonderful brand and I'm sure a very healthy institution will buy it.

Julia Did anyone get a postcard from ING advertizing the Orange Mortgage that "projects" that the interest rate in 5 years will actually be less than it is now? Isn't this the kind of advertising that got everyone in trouble the last time around with ARMs? Really don't like this, makes me ready to research other savings options... (5 year customer)
