Does th psychiatric community in the US monitor its members' capability to provide psychiatric care at any given time? The fact that this murderer is a psychiatrist is not covered enough in the news, his behavior is terrifying and horrifying. I would hate to see this glossed over by explanations and excuses, keeping at...tention from what he actually did. This is postracial USA, it's time to shed the old ways of thinking in brackets.Read More

What do you think about how the massacre in Texas was covered yesterday?
Initially the suspect was reported as dead, then alive? How is this possible?
Also, the suspect is a PSYCHIATRIST, not any kind of mental health professional. This is downplayed too much. Did he see patients that day? What did he tell them?

Keep up the splendid and inspiring work!

Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE and NICAR) In this free article from Uplink, Gavin Off of the Tulsa World tells how he used databases to report on school crime. This is one of those stories that journalists can do anywhere.

I drive by an elementary school on my way to work every day. More than once there’s been a police cruiser idling in the school’s parking lot with lights flashing and the officer standing nearby.
