If you drink alcohol, call a taxi, use mass transit or call a sober friend or family member to help get you home safely.

IDOT Secretary Gary Hannig announces 105 high schools have been selected to participate in the 2009-2010 Operation Teen Safe Driving (OTSD) program. These schools will develop and implement peer-to-peer based initiatives in their communities. Now in its third year, OTSD continues to aim to reduce the number of teen fat...alities in Illinois. Illinois Department of Transportation 2008 was the safest year for travel in Illinois since 1923. Fatalities dropped to 1,043 - the lowest number in 85 years. Still, far too many people are being killed on our roadways. The FY 2010 Highway Safety Performance Plan continues with aggressive highway safety programs to keep the reduction in fatalities on a downward trend.
