So, if you don't want to go... don't go! Some of us still love the Tribe no matter what. There's a lot of teams in the League that didn't win the World Series.

It's not whether they are a good team or not. The amount people were willing to donate was determined by the economy.

Who knows where the money is going...and even if the food is being sold, I am sure the cost is nominal in comparison to what someone would pay full retail for. Thanks to the volunteers and organizers for working this food drive.

Yea Sandy Alomar,Jr. returning to coach. Now, how about Omar returning to coach& play? At his age he is better than the guy who replaced him.

That guy directing traffic at first base at Progressive Field next season will be a familiar face to Tribe fans. Sandy Alomar Jr. is coming back to the Indians. Manager Manny Acta, nearing the completion of his coaching staff, has hired Alomar to be his first base coach...

UPDATE: Here's a full rundown of the 40-man situation and who might get protected Friday. Friday is the last day teams can protect eligible players from the Rule 5 Draft by adding them to the 40-man roster. The Indians, at the moment, have 33 players on their 40-man...

Josh: Lewis already cleared waivers to be taken off the 40-man, so it's unlikely that anyone has any real interest in him.

Why wouldn't the Indians protect Jeanmar Gomez? The guy was the best pitcher in AA last year. Edell and Wright figure to be guys that aren't really in danger of being taken. It seems to me that you'd protect:

Jordan Brown... Read More
Nick Weglarz
Jason Donald
Jeanmar Gomez
Kelvin De La Cruz

Then, with two or 3 spots left, you might add Pino, Hodges, McBride or Lofgren. Keep in mind that the Indians might want to keep a spot open for picking up a free agent, a player in the rule 5 draft, or a trade.

The problem with the indians is the problem with baseball, if we could afford to keep our elite players then we wouldn't have to rebuild every five years. Why is it that every year 7 of the teams in the playoffs are in the top ten in payroll? Isn't it itme to level the economic playing field.

It's a sad state of affairs. I remember all those lousy Tribe teams in the 70s ('68 was good for 2nd place but that's about it for the 60s) and 80s - average was the very best we could expect then. And it looks like history is repeating itself. It's bullshit - when the Indians were selling out every game they could not afford Thome? Ramirez? Belle... Read More? - they got greedy plain and simple. The value is realized on the back-end - when you sell the club. Any owner that expects to be profitable year after year, and still be a winner in a small market, is looking at fool's gold. Sideways is about best you can expect on a team with great players running at about $120M - $150M in salary. But it keeps the seat filled and makes the franchise valuable to an egomaniac that wants to buy a ballclub. 'Nuff said.

Sounds nice. Just curious, where do the revenues for these events go? Obviously they are not used to retain Cy Young Award winners.
