Joshua Bell, world renowned violinist, Hoosier native and our guest artist for this weekend, has just been named the 2010 "Instrumentalist of the Year" by Musical America. The Indianapolis Star's Jay Harvey recently blogged about his upcoming appearance with the ISO.

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Time for Three receives their first review as the ISO's new ensemble in residence for last weekend's performance of Concerto 4-3. We heard a tremendous response for the audience over the weekend- I'm interested to hear what our Facebook fans thought of the guys? Thoughts? Reviews?

Mark

Mark I attended last night's performance, including Higdon's Concerto 4-3. I've had the opportunity to attend symphonies around the world - New York, London, Berlin - but I don't think I've seen or heard anything as innovative and energetic as the Tf3 ensemble. Bravo to Jennifer Higdon, the ISO, and the ISO leadership who brought such talent to our city.

Brett Here's a question: What do the musicans think of current music trends as it relates to Pop Music?

I also found this clever and funny demonstration of what a fugue is, using the theme from Britney Spears’ “Oops, I did it again”:

Here's my question: What does the tf3/ISO collaboration have in store for us for the next three years? Performance or otherwise. Thanks!

I don't know how, but I JUST found out about this, and it made me sick to my stomach. Mario is the best thing that ever happened to the ISO, and I think they were fools to dismiss him.

I had the good fortune to work with him as part of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, and I can say - without hesitation - that he is the best conductor I have ever had the privilege to sing under. He will always hold a special place in my heart, and he will be sorely missed.

Brett WOW!! That's all I can say about tonight's Pops Concert. This was the best Pop's concert I've been to!! I want to know how the one act made the birds out of nothing. I was sitting next to the "winning ticket" girl. You had me for a while! Jack was also hilarious! He's the best conductor for Pop's Concerts.

African music orchestrated for symphony : Invited to play with the Jazz Sinfônica from São Paulo (Brazil), the Congolese pianist - composer RAY LEMA had 13 of his works specially arranged and orchestrated. Born in Congo (DRC) and now based in France ...(Paris) , Ray Lema is internationally known for his beautiful melodies and his mastery of African polyrhythm. His engagement with João Maurico Galindo, conductor and artistic director of the Jazz Sinfônica from São Paulo, resulted in this African repertoire being adapted and scored for orchestra, which paves the way for other orchestras to perform this body of work. LEMA and GALINDO are now looking for new collaborations with symphony orchestras internationally. website: www.raylema.comRead More
