Chris M., HemisFair Park redevelopment is one of Mayor Castro's areas of interest and he's convened a committee to study it and put together a redevelopment plan. The Institute of Texan Cultures is represented on this committee by UTSA's executive vice-provost, who is also the former dean of the College of Architecture. We're definitely interested to see what's in store for HemisFair Park.

UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures Why do we tell ghost stories and what do they mean? ITC Folklorist Rhett Rushing was interviewed by Express-News writer Miranda Koerner about San Antonio ghost stories - every culture has ghost stories in their folklore.

There are a lot of ghosts in San Antonio. From the famed ghost railroad tracks on the South Side to the Midget Mansion on the Northwest Side, the Alamo City is full of spooky specters.

The paranormal group that were at the ITC during one of the past TFF really exceeded the focus of paranormal entities at the ITC. The French funeral carriage was the most believable.

UPDATED; El Dia - additional photos - entire altar and display description.

The Institute of Texan Cultures will display a traditional altar for El Dia De Los Muertos, the “Day of the Dead,” Saturday, Oct. 24 – Saturday, Nov. 7.

El Dia is believed to have emerged from a combination of Aztec ancestor worship and Spanish C...atholicism into an observance that honors both traditions. Celebrated on All Souls Day, Nov. 2, the Mexican tradition continues to gain prominence in San Antonio. El Dia honors deceased relatives and friends, believing that their spirits return to the physical world to visit.Read More
