The U.S. administration and Congress are embracing Honduran elections on Nov 29th as a solution in spite of the continued human rights violations by military forces. Broad sectors of civil socie...ty point out that ongoing repression and censorship make elections impossible in this time frame and indicate they will boycott if constitutional order is not returned. Calls and notes to the State Department (202-647-4000), National Security Council (http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/) and Congress are critical. The message should be no agreement, no support of elections—push for a return to constitutional order.
