A man is in jail, accused of cutting a woman's hair while they were riding a Tri-Met bus. It was the third hair-cutting incident aboard a bus in the last month.

First off, because someone voices an opinion is no reason to insult their intelligence or be snide. Numerous other states have implemented new area codes without requiring a transition to ten digit dialing. This is a choice by the state because it's easier technologically to force ten digit dialing than it is to implement the programming changes ... See Morenecessary to accommodate the new area code. Odds are they're anticipating using duplicate prefixes, which leads to the possibility of a number such as 555-1234 existing in both area codes.

I agree that it is stupid but I've noticed since moving here in 2001 that Oregon rarely considers what it's tax-payers want unless it's forced to a referendum. We'll all complain and groan now and in a year it'll just be habit. So goes life.
