KYMCO Sponsors Karen Stoffer and Jim Underdahl in the Last Two NHRA Races - "Stoffer Seventh With Two Races Left - 10/6/2009
By: Jack Korpela, Cycledrag.com
GEICO Powersports Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer exited the O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals from Memphis, Tenn., Oct 2-4, ranked seventh in the Full Throttle... point series, with two races remaining in the NHRA's Countdown to One championship hunt.
In what proved to be a challenging Memphis weekend for the motorcycle class, with drastically changing weather patterns, Stoffer qualified in the No. 11 spot with a run of 6.99 at 199 mph. She was paired with rookie sensation and No. 6 qualifier Douglas Horne in the first round of eliminations.
Following qualifying, inclement weather descended upon the Mid-South Nationals and Stoffer was forced to wait until Monday to race. Waiting to compete is never easy for a competitor. The team was able to pass the time by scouring the motorcycle for hidden horsepower.
After plenty of time to prepare the GEICO Suzuki, Stoffer improved to her quickest run of the weekend with a 6.96. Unfortunately for Stoffer, Horne also clicked off his best run of the weekend and was able to secure the victory with a 6.93.
"We had a great bike. I give my crew a lot of credit," Stoffer said. "Doug was just a little quicker."
Stoffer now looks to the last two races of the 2009 season, The NHRA Las Vegas Nationals, Oct. 29-Nov.1, from Las Vegas, Nev. and the Auto Club NHRA Finals from Pomona, Calif., Nov. 12-15.
"We are very excited for the final two races of the season," Stoffer said. "We want to finish strong with two wins."
Stoffer has clinched her sixth consecutive top-ten finish and is aiming to improve on her No. 9 ranking from last season.
Stoffer went on to extend special thanks to all of her sponsors and supporters:
Geico Powersports 1-800-442-9253, KYMCO , Suzuki Extended Protection, Speed Dawg, Bates Leathers, NGK, Airtech, Wrath Motorsports and TKO Graphics."

Greg´s son Jim Underdahl has been forging his skills since 2002 and is now ready to compete at the pro level in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. Both Jim and Karen Stoffer will compete in the last two races.
